3 original travel quiz ideas you've never seen before
October 12th, 2009
Every year, the world gets smaller. Tv-shows and travel magazines show us the most beautiful and faraway destinations and more and more people travel further and further away. And when people are not traveling, they dream of traveling. With all this knowledge about the world and the eagerness to experience those places it’s not strange that travel quizzes are so popular.
And travel quizzes aren’t only relevant if you are in the travel industry, they can be used to entertain your costumers or connect with your employees and students. They can be educational or be used to infuse future clients with your brand in a fun way.
But since travel quizzes are so popular, a lot of them are already out there. So how do you prevent that your quiz becomes a dull: “in what city stands the Eiffel Tower?”-kind of quiz? By thinking out of the box of course! And to help you out: 3 original travel quiz concepts you never seen before:
1. Where in the world ….
This quiz is inspired by the “Where in the world is Carmen Sandiago” educational series. In the original game you had to discover where the character Carmen Sandiago (a thieving villianess) traveled and capture her by finding clues about her next destination. In your quiz version of this game you can create your own villain to be found, or maybe make it a foxhound which involves your mascot or logo.
In every question you have to describe a sight or location, or give a hint about a country and make the player choose between a couple of countries or locations to travel “next”.
This quiz is especially fun if you want to challenge your players knowledge about the world and can very well be combined with a prize. For example imagine your clients have to hunt your logo and find out where your new store will be opening to get a discount!
2. What about our place?
This quiz is a lot of fun for people who live in the same city or state. So this would be perfect for you employees or students. This quiz focusses on famous sights or historical events across the globe and cross-references them with local sights and events people might never heard of.
For example you could show a small video clip or pretty picture about some gorgeous tropical plants and explain that these rare plants grow in the deep jungles of Costa Rica. Question now is, can these plants be seen in the local vicinity? Yes or No. The correct answer would be yes, in the botanical gardens.
You can ask such questions with al kinds of subjects. Animals in the zoo, old paintings in nearby museums, famous people or churches and other landmarks. A quiz like this is fun because it lets you discover that for a lot of cool sights you don’t have to travel far.
3. Victorian Traveling Quiz
Traveling nowadays is really easy, you book a trip online, go to the airport and step on a plane. But a hundred and fifty years ago, traveling has a lot of adventure. So why not try to recreate those times in a classic victorian travel quiz? Try to emerge your players in the past and ask them questions like: what is the fastest route to travel to Egypt? By boat via Greece and Gibraltar or by land via Venetia? Or show them news clippings you find online about discoveries of ancient temples or weird places. Make the players feel like Indiana Jones and send them back to those adventurous times.
As you can see, with a bit of creativity you can come up with new original quiz concepts designed around old themes. If you have trouble coming up with a concept designed for your business. Please contact us and we can help you!
